HIFT stands for "High Intensity Functional Training." HIFT isn't your average circuit class. It is constantly varied, meaning you’ll rarely do the same workout twice. We combine the best elements of Olympic weightlifting, gymnastics-style bodyweight movements, and high-power cardio into one cohesive program.

  • How HIFT Group Training Classes work

    Walking into a new gym can be intimidating, but at Blind Side Strength, you’re never left to figure it out on your own. Every session is 100% coach-led from start to finish. Here is how we spend our hour together:

    1. The Whiteboard Brief

    We start every class at the whiteboard. Your coach will break down the day’s programming, explain the "why" behind the movements, and discuss the intended stimulus. This is where we talk through scaling options—ensuring that whether it’s your 1st day or 1,000th day, the workout is tailored to your current ability.

    2. General & Specific Warm-Ups

    We don’t just jump into the heavy stuff.

    • General Warm-Up: We get your heart rate up and your joints moving with functional, full-body movements.
    • Skill-Specific Warm-Up: We narrow the focus. If the workout involves a technical lift or a gymnastics move, we spend time practicing the mechanics with empty barbells or progressions. Think of this as a "mini-clinic" before the main event.

    3. The Work: Strength, Metcon, or Both

    Depending on the day’s programming, we move into the "meat" of the session:

    • Strength/Skill: Focused sets on a specific lift (like back squats or presses) to build raw power and technical proficiency.
    • Metcon (Metabolic Conditioning): This is the high-intensity portion. It’s a heart-pumping, varied workout designed to build your engine and test your grit.

    4. Cool Down & Community

    Once the clock hits zero, we don't just bolt for the door. We wrap up with a cool down to kickstart recovery and, of course, plenty of high-fives. You’ll leave feeling accomplished, tired, and ready for the next one.

    We don't just throw you into the deep end. We want to get to know you, your goals, and any previous injuries or concerns you might have.

    1. Book Your No Sweat Intro - Let’s sit down to discuss your goals, your history, and ensure we are the right fit for your journey. No gym clothes required!
    2. Design Your Schedule: During your intro, we’ll nail down your preferred training days, times, and match them with our own HIFT Group Training Class Schedule, and nail down how many classes per week will best help you hit your targets.
    3. Select Your Class Frequency Package: Once we have a plan in place, you can conveniently purchase your choice of Group Training package directly through our website to lock in your sessions.
